Flight Briefing: The Tandoori Chicken Chronicles and the Master of the Sky

Hey there, dream-chasers and sky-junkies!

Your favourite motivational consultant AND glider pilot here, fresh from the craziest, funniest, most heart-pounding flight of my life. Grab your coffee (or oxygen mask), because this story is about to take you from “roasted chicken” on the ground to “soaring legend” at 10,000 feet… with a side of uncontrollable laughter and goosebumps guaranteed!

So picture this: It’s May in Rajasthan. I’m crazy enough to board the Jammu Express at 4:30 a.m. from Delhi for a “quick” gliding adventure in Jaipur. By the time we pulled into Jaipur station at 10 a.m., the train felt like a mobile tandoor. I stepped out looking like a perfectly roasted chicken — skin crispy, juices locked in, temperature outside a murderous 50°C. The famous “Loo” (not the bathroom kind, the devil-wind kind) was in full swing, whipping up dust devils that spun like angry tornadoes on steroids. Dust storms? They call them “Andhi” here — and trust me, they don’t mess around.

But was I scared? Nah. I was pumped! “Perfect conditions for gliding,” I told myself like an idiot. Because when the earth is a frying pan, the thermals are rocket boosters. We got the green light, strapped into the glider, and off we went — silent, elegant, climbing fast on nothing but hot air (literally).

Two thousand feet up, I spotted my new flying buddy: a magnificent eagle circling lazily over Jaigarh Fort on “Cheel Ka Teela” — Eagle Hill. This guy wasn’t just flying… he was owning the sky. I locked eyes with him (yes, actual eye contact at 2,000 feet — don’t ask how). And then, like a wingman sent from heaven, he started guiding us. We followed his tight circles, riding the same thermal column, gaining altitude like we’d just hit the afterburners.

Then Mother Nature decided to throw a surprise party.

Out of nowhere — BOOM — a full-blown dust storm exploded below us. Red dust everywhere, visibility zero on the ground. Our glider shot upward like a cork from a champagne bottle. Lightning started cracking around us like paparazzi flashbulbs. I turned to my co-pilot with the biggest grin and yelled, “Dude! We’re getting photographed by the gods! This is our record climb!”

He was NOT amused. His face said, “I did NOT sign up to die today.”

Ten thousand feet. Altimeter screaming. Hailstones the size of golf balls drumming on our canopy like an angry drummer on steroids. We were now in full “Cloud Suck” — that terrifying upward pull under cumulonimbus clouds that has killed pilots before. Temperature dropping fast, oxygen getting thin, and the only thing between us and becoming human hailstones was… an eagle.

But here’s the insane part: that eagle didn’t panic. He expanded his circles, showed us the edge of the thermal, then gave us the “follow me, amateurs!” look. We popped the airbrakes, spiralled down like pros, and broke free just as the storm went nuclear below. Safe landing on a runway that had been invisible five minutes earlier.

We climbed out, legs wobbly, hearts exploding with gratitude. And that eagle? He gave one last victory circle overhead and disappeared into the blue like the absolute legend he is.

Now, as your motivational consultant who’s flown through literal hell and back, here are the eagle-powered lessons I’m handing you on a silver (slightly hail-dented) platter:

  1. Fly high… and fly alone when it matters. Eagles don’t flock. If you want to do something epic — launch that business, write that book, chase that impossible dream — learn to enjoy your own company. Surround yourself only with people who have the same altitude as you.
  2. Vision so sharp it scares the prey. An eagle can spot a rabbit from two kilometres away and never loses focus. Stop letting random opinions, social media noise, or “what ifs” distract you. Lock your eyes on the goal and dive like you mean it.
  3. Storms are your personal elevator. While other birds hide, the eagle uses the raging storm’s pressure to shoot higher than ever. Every crisis in your life — layoff, breakup, failed launch — is just free upward thrust. Stop hiding. Start soaring.
  4. Master the painful rebirth. When an eagle’s wings get old and heavy, it flies to a lonely mountain, rips out its own feathers, smashes its beak on rocks, and waits five months in agony… just to come back stronger. That’s you every time you need to level up. Shed the toxic habits, the dead-weight relationships, the outdated mindset. It hurts. But the new you flies higher than you ever dreamed.

Friends, I went to Jaipur for a simple glide… and came back reborn as a better pilot, a better consultant, and a way better human.

Next time life throws a dust storm at you, remember my eagle buddy. Don’t fight it. Ride it. Laugh through the hailstones. And come out the other side laughing louder, flying higher, and living bolder.

Now tell me in the comments: What “storm” are you facing right now… and are you ready to soar like an eagle through it?

Let’s turn your chaos into your comeback story. I’m right here cheering you on from the cockpit.

Wings up, Your sky-addicted motivational consultant & pilot 🦅✈️

P.S. Yes, every word is 100 % true. Even the part where I compared myself to tandoori chicken. 😂
