“SPLASH! The Ghost Under My Bed That Almost Killed Me… (It Was Just Two Lizards Throwing a Pool Party!)”

Hi Friends!

Welcome back to my late-night blog where every story comes with goosebumps, giggles, and a sneaky life lesson. Buckle up, because this one is pure hostel horror… with the funniest plot twist in college history!

It was the middle of summer vacation. The entire hostel was a ghost town — literally. All my roommates had run home screaming, “Bro, don’t stay! Room 69 is HAUNTED! People have heard weird noises, lights flicker, and once someone saw a shadowy figure washing its hands at 3 a.m.!”

I laughed it off like a boss. “Guys, I’m staying. I need peace to finish reading the life of Lord Buddha. Ghosts don’t exist… right?”

First night alone: total silence except for one dog in the distance barking like it had seen the devil, and frogs outside croaking in perfect horror-movie rhythm. The fan was spinning lazily, moonlight sneaking through the broken window, casting long creepy shadows on the wall. Atmosphere = 100 % ready for a jump-scare Netflix special.

I was halfway through Buddha’s enlightenment story when — click — the power died. Pitch black. Not even a corridor light. Just me, my phone torch on 3 % battery, and that half-filled bucket of water I always kept under the bed so I didn’t have to walk 200 metres to the creepy common washroom at night.

I shrugged, said a quick “Jai Buddha,” and tried to sleep.

Ten minutes later… splash… glug-glug-glug… splash-splash…

My eyes shot open. Someone — or something — was pouring water into the bucket under my bed. Slow, deliberate, creepy pouring sounds. Not dripping. Full-on pouring. Like a ghost was calmly washing its ghostly hands right beneath me.

My heart jumped into my throat. I froze. The sound kept going. Glug… splash… glug…

I swear I could feel cold breath on my neck. Every horror story I’d ever ignored came rushing back. “This is it,” I thought. “The haunted room finally got me. Tomorrow they’ll find my body with wet hands and a terrified expression.”

I didn’t even scream. I just ninja-rolled out of bed, grabbed my dying phone, and sprinted barefoot through the dark corridor like an Olympic sprinter. The night-watchman Uncle was dozing in his chair. I shook him awake so hard his turban almost flew off.

“Uncle! Ghost! Under my bed! Pouring water! Come NOW!”

Poor Uncle turned pale but grabbed his heavy torch and lathi. We crept back like two idiots in a horror movie — the kind who always die first. Every step echoed. The splashing sound grew louder the closer we got. SPLASH-SPLASH-GLUG!

We stood outside my door, breathing like we’d run a marathon. Uncle whispered, “Beta… on three.”

One… two… THREE!

He kicked the door open, swung the torch under the bed like a SWAT team, and yanked the bucket out in one heroic pull.

And there they were.

Two fat, shiny lizards, completely soaked, desperately doggy-paddling and thrashing their tails like they were trying to win Olympic gold in synchronized swimming. Every tail flick made that exact “someone pouring water” sound. They had clearly fallen in while hunting mosquitoes under my bed, lost balance, and turned my bucket into their personal panic jacuzzi.

For three full seconds we just stared.

Then Uncle burst out laughing so hard he had to sit on the floor. “Arre baba! These two idiots were having a midnight bath party!”

I stood there in my shorts, phone torch shaking in my hand, feeling like the biggest coward in hostel history. The “ghost” was still splashing angrily, giving us side-eye like, “A little privacy, please?”

We fished them out with a stick, dried the floor, and I finally slept like a baby… after triple-checking under the bed, obviously.

Moral of the story, my friends (and yes, this is still “Lessons in Management by Lizards – 2”):

Never believe rumours or let your imagination run wild without proper investigation. What looks like a terrifying ghost pouring water at 2 a.m. might just be two clumsy lizards throwing the world’s worst pool party. Always pull the bucket out before you call the exorcist.

So next time your team panics over a “crisis,” remember my lizards. Investigate first, laugh later, and never jump to ghostly conclusions.

Good night, sleep tight, and check under your bed tonight… just in case. 😈🦎
